First, I had to be friendly or higher with them to request that. One time I went all the way to integration phase with the psi fish in order to get them to help me in a war against the growth faction. Diplomacy only seems to work on commanders/players. How? Well, the start "demanding" all sorts of resources and if I refuse a few times they declare war on me and I can't fight a long, drawn out war with them simply because I don't have the resources, the troops, sectors etc. My issue with the NPC factions is that once they contact me, it's basically over. All of my victories have been as a result of building my doomsday weapons since the AI don't seem to attack you until the last second when it's too late as long as you keep your cities defended. I want to know if these issues are something other people have experienced and how they've been dealing with them. Similar to above, the AI will attack you from beyond the fog of war if you move units around and drop under that threshhold of easy AI victory. The only time they ever move off the city is if their deathball is big enough to destroy yours in an autoresolve which usually means you're outnumbered or out-unit tiered by a huge margin. The AI also have a tendency to stack their entire army into a huge deathball on one city and if you don't have a bigger deathball by a significant margin it is going to be a slog to break through, but if you try to maneuver around they'll just do the same causing a lot of annoying stalemates. I haven't even tried vassalizing but I'm curious if anyone else has ever had it occur. No matter how deep I I pound an enemy faction into the dirt, they never accept a truce even if the alternative is to be removed from the game. I try to trade resources away but they almost always say they don't have the energy for my cosmite or vice versa. When I'm not at war with half the map, the other half are all bankrupt in every respect. However when I go to the diplomacy menu I cannot denounce them in return and do the same. The AI factions constantly denounce me when we're at war and plummet my relationship with the rest of the factions, often causing a cascade effect where I'm at war with three people at once. I've sunk nearly 30 hours into the game and I can safely say I enjoy it immensely, but there a couple issues cropping up in every campaign that I've run that have often ruined the mood of playing.
